About Us
Wendy M. Cannon
Illustrator of Maya's Journey Home
Wendy Cannon is a kindergarten literacy teacher but her true passion is in being a
watercolor artist. Her subjects include people, landscapes, seascapes, and florals
all in a realistic style. Wendy is mostly self-taught, however she has taken several
workshops and classes, including at Maine College of Art. Stained glass and mural
painting are other areas in which Wendy dabbles. She painted a mural in the
entrance of Governor John Fairfield Elementary School in Saco, Maine, which the
children enjoy.
Wendy lives in Southern, Maine with her husband, two children and two cats, all
of whom have been pressed into service as subjects of her paintings. The use of
vibrant colors and realism in her landscapes is a hallmark of Wendy’s work. Her
pet portraits capture the lively “personality” of each animal, and she paints the
shoreline near her home expressing the spirit of the beaches. Wendy’s paintings
“just capture the illusion of life.” (Biddeford/Saco/OOB Courier, May 6, 2004)
Wendy plans to share her time creating art with part time teaching. Her work can
be seen at various outdoor summer shows in Southern Maine, go to Wendy's
website for more information on her summer 2009 show schedule

Tina L. Christiansen
Co-Author of Maya's Journey Home & President of Suitemates Publishing
Company
Tina L. Christiansen lives on Long Island, NY, with her daughter Maya and their
dog Bella. Tina is member of FCC-LI (Families with Children from China), SMC
(Single Mothers by Choice) and APC (Adoptive Parents Committee).
Professionally Tina has been working in the Marketing Field for over 15 years.
When Maya was adopted from Yangxi, China in 2006 the story of "Maya's Journey
Home" had begun. It was Tina's love for her daughter Maya that she wanted to
write a story from the child's prospective (in this case the Panda Maya) of growing
up in orphanage and being adopted by someone who doesn't look exactly like
them but in the end it's all about love and family. This story is for all those
children who came home to their forever families.
